The one-time purchase is a perpetual license — you own it and use it indefinitely. It includes one year of support and software updates; after year one you can renew support annually. The annual subscription ($3,000/yr) requires a 12-month commitment but includes ongoing support and works out to a lower monthly cost. Month-to-month ($290/mo) is available without a commitment at a slightly higher effective annual rate.
SQL Server edition pricing is per physical server with a minimum of 4 cores. Cores are counted per processor — a dual-socket server with 4 cores each totals 8 cores. Virtual machines are counted by vCPU allocation. Contact us with your server configuration for an exact quote.
Each license covers a single physical server or machine. The SQL Express license covers one machine and one SQL Express instance. The SQL Server license covers one physical production server. A discounted non-production add-on is available for dev/test/staging machines at $1,250 one-time.
The evaluation is fully functional — not a stripped-down demo. All features for the edition you're evaluating are included. It is time-limited and should be installed on a test or development server only, not production. Support during evaluation is best-effort, as resources are prioritized to purchased licenses.
