KB #240006: Clearing the Windows Paging File at Shutdown
|This article explains how you can clear out the Windows paging file at shutdown and why you might want to consider it.

|The Windows paging file can sometimes contain valuable sensitive information. For example, if the hard drive is formatted as a FAT partition (as opposed to NTFS), someone could boot with a DOS diskette and have access to the paging file. While this is not a significant threat (it would require a skilled technician knowing what he was looking for to extract it) we believe that you should use whatever security measures are at your disposal especially if they take almost no effort.To accomplish this, follow the instructions in one of the following Microsoft Knowledgebase articles:
